The Tojiro VG10 DP Bolsterless 2 pc set makes a perfect gift for aspiring cook. The knife was developed to give the best bang for the buck cutting performance for home or work. The focus is on sharpness and you'll be impressed by the factory edge and smooth cutting action. Tojiro's unique VG10 Steel is an epoch-making composite material in which high-purity iron ore from which impurities have been removed is sandwiched between 13 chromium stainless steel. Two types of grades are set according to the specifications of the handle. This series is also particular about the thinness of the blade, pursuing good sharpness with edges that bite into the ingredients. Included is the 165mm Santoku Knife and the 135mm Petty Knife.

My grandchildren have grown up and begun to establish their own homes. I found this set and thought it would be a great introductory set of Japanese knives for neophytes.Stain-less steel is a great option for them as they can learn proper knife care without the issues that a carbon steel knife is beset by.
The F&F and sharpness were excellent OOTB and the price was also very good. These will serve my desires to have a set of knives to serve a growing family and after thoroughly inspecting them and using them myself, I feel that they will be with my grandchildren for a good long time. Now to teach sharpening skills ~ but that is another story.
