This product came out of practical necessity. At CKTG, wooden handles and sayas pass through the shop constantly, and keeping unfinished wood in good condition requires something that actually works - not a generic board oil. The Handle and Board Wax is a blend of food-grade mineral oil and double-refined beeswax that CKTG formulated and uses in-house daily. It is the same product used to finish sayas before they ship and to condition the wa handles on knives throughout the office. When something works well enough to use on your own product, it is worth selling.
Mineral oil penetrates the wood to hydrate and stabilize it from the inside, while beeswax seals the surface and creates a protective barrier against moisture and staining. Together they bring out the grain, deepen the color, and leave wood looking nourished rather than coated. It works on knife handles, cutting boards, sayas, salad bowls, rolling pins, and wooden utensils - any unfinished wood that benefits from conditioning. Application is straightforward: rub a small amount onto the wood, work it in, and wipe off the excess with a clean cloth. A little goes a long way, and the 4-ounce container treats a large number of surfaces. Two coats with a day between them is the recommended approach for new or very dry wood.
What Customers Are Saying: A knife maker who uses it professionally confirms no reactivity on carbon steel blades during handle installs and describes the scent as similar to honey butter. Multiple reviewers apply it with their bare hands rather than a cloth, finding the warmth helps work it into the grain more evenly. One reviewer softens the wax slightly in the microwave before application, which makes spreading easier - a tip several others have echoed. The range of surfaces people use it on keeps expanding in the reviews: wa handles, sayas, cutting boards, straight razor handles, wooden spoons, work cart tops, and unfinished handle blanks. A dry-climate reviewer credits the wax with preventing cutting boards and sayas from cracking during harsh winter conditions. Repeat purchases are common - the 4-ounce container lasts a long time, but customers come back because it works.
Application Instructions: Start with clean, dry wood. Scoop a small amount - a pea-sized amount covers most handles - and work it into the wood with a cloth or your fingertips. Let it sit for several minutes, then wipe off any excess with a clean rag. For cutting boards or very dry wood, apply a second coat after 24 hours. Reapply to handles and boards periodically as needed, particularly in dry climates or after heavy use.

Apply with hands, October 25, 2022Posted By: Daniel

Works great. I wasn't getting ideal results when applying with a paper towel (paper towel seemed to just take it all off in my opinion) so I just placed a few small smears on my wa handles and massaged it in with my hand and let dry for a full day. I noticed immediate results once it dried and rubbing it with my hands seemed to make sure there was no excess. Definitely gonna buy again.

CKTG Handle Wax is Excellent Posted By: Jack Douglas
I bought this in hopes that it would enhance the look of my knife handles, but to my surprise it also makes them feel better. I was also surprised at how large the container is. I imagine it will last quite a long time and I’m very happy with the product.

This combo of oil and wax is perfect to seal in the wooden handles that come without finish on them. It brings out the beauty of the grain and protects the wood. Great product by CKTG as always!

I can't believe I was not using this before. I have been oiling my wooden utensils and cutting boards prior to this... this is so much better. I look forward to longer life now from my wooden utensils and much better experiences from my cutting boards.

This brought out the grain and protects those expensive sayas. It should be advertised on each saya page. If I would have known about this product I would have bought it with my first saya. Great stuff and easy to work with and clean up after!

Generally odourless, simple to apply, works well. What's not to like? I put it on everything wooden that I own, after a thorough oiling with some mineral oil, and it adds that nice protective shine. Simple, easy and no nonsense. A little bit goes a long way, and you can also add more than one layer by giving it a a day or so between each coat for it to soak in an solidify. I find 2 coats is the magic number.

I use this to help nourish and protect traditional style plain wood knife handles as well as cutting boards. It doesnt take much for most uses; when I need to use more I soften the wax a bit and then rub it in the wood well, let it sit a bit, and then rub off any excess. Nice natural product.

I have bought several bottles of this, and gone through a couple of them already. I used it for unfinished knife handles when I had knives with unfinished handles, and now use it for my cutting board and for the unfinished top of my work cart. The finish lasts through several washes of surfaces. I have also used it to seal handles, and it lasted great there, too.One tip for making spreading easier: Put it in the microwave! Lot less effort to apply that way!

This is a great product, and well worth the cost.I also use it on wood knife handles, wooden spoos, cutting boards, and as a hand moisturizer. It seems to protect my cutting board very well; juices and liquids bead up on the surface and wipe right off.I also like the fact that it is a little thicker than many of the other brand board butters I've seen. Great value!

This wood conditioner is now what I use on all the handles I make. I love the smell of it, it's like honey butter! Almost want to eat it! I've also used it on many carbon steel blades during handle installs and haven't noticed any reactivity at all. Definitely use this on both your natural and stabilized wood handles to bring out the chatoyancy of the wood and keep them looking shiny and fresh.

A little bit goes a long wayPosted By: Jesse - verified customer
I bought this around Christmas, put it on a couple cutting boards & sayas. It made a huge difference. Without it I would bet money the dry air in my apartment would have turned them into something that resembles kindling more than a cutting board.

Great way to finish off my cutting board and sayas. I am curious as to whether or not it's safe for knives or if it's reactive,. Kind of a silly question, but I don't know and if rather be sure instead of messing up my pretty, expensive knives. Say for whatever reason a small glob got on my knife without me knowing and it stayed there for a few days. Should I worry?
