This is a new line of knives we have started carrying from the industry giants Sakai Takayuki. Sakai Takayuki was established in 1946, and has since become one of the biggest manufacturers of Japanese knives in the world. Their products come from the origins of sword making in Sakai, Japan, the history of which stretches back nearly 800 years.
The AS Kengata is a fun and functional kitchen weapon capable of tackling almost every ingredient. Kengata means Sword Like in Japanese and this is a fitting description for this blade, which is also known as a Bunka. The reverse tanto tip is the most obvious design element of the knife. This intriguing and somewhat cool looking tip is a way to get extra edge length to the blade while keeping overall mass down. It is a perfect tool for processing smaller items and performing intricate cuts with the tip.
The blade is constructed from Aogami Super high carbon steel which has been hammer forged with an outer layer of stainless steel. The cladding is given a hammer finish and the carbon forging scale has been kept to enhance the look and aid with food release. The great looking blade is coupled to a maple octagonal handle.
