The Sharpal 162N is an 8 in x 3 in (203 x 76 mm) dual-sided diamond whetstone with a coarse 325 grit (45 micron) face for restoring a dull or damaged edge and an extra fine 1200 grit (12 micron) face for honing to a fine finish. The sharpening surface is industrial monocrystalline diamond electroplated in nickel onto a stainless steel base, built to Sharpal MirrorFlat specifications for a flatness tolerance of plus or minus 0.002 in (0.05 mm) that holds up without periodic lapping. Unlike the 168H and 169H stones, the 162N includes a heavy-duty, self-supporting storage case with a non-slip rubber pad on the bottom that doubles as the stone base while sharpening.

Use and Care Instructions: Sharpen dry. Water or oil is not required and is not recommended for regular use. Set the case down to expose the non-slip rubber base, seat the stone against the angle guide, and work the coarse 325 grit face first on a dull or damaged edge before finishing on the extra fine 1200 grit face to hone and remove any burr. The coarse face can also flatten sharpening stones in a pinch, though frequent flattening is not recommended since the stone is designed primarily for sharpening, not as a dedicated flattening plate. Wipe the stone clean and return it to its case for storage.
