Furusawa Seisakusho Nut Cracker

Item #: FR-3200

Furusawa Seisakusho makes this walnut cracker in Sanjo City, Niigata Prefecture, a region with a long history of edge tool and blade manufacturing, the same forging tradition behind many of the Japanese kitchen knives we carry. This plier style cracker uses S45C carbon steel jaws hardened to HRC 56 to 60, paired with a red resin coated handle for a secure, comfortable grip.

A small platform built into the jaw holds the walnut steady while you crack it. Rest the shell on the platform, press the blade against the natural seam at roughly a 45 degree angle, and squeeze the handle. This splits the shell cleanly along its seam rather than crushing it, making it easier to get whole nutmeat out rather than fragments mixed with shell.

This set includes a companion nut pick with a stainless steel tip and a resin handle, built for digging the meat out of the cracked shell quickly and cleanly, taking a walnut from whole shell to bowl with two simple tools.

Care Instructions: This is a bladed tool, handle and store it with the same care you would give a knife. Wipe dry after use and keep it out of reach of children. Use it only for cracking nuts, not as a general purpose pry tool.
