The Shapton Professional series - also sold as Kuromaku Professional, the same stone under a different name - is one of the most widely used synthetic sharpening stone lines in the world. Designed and manufactured in Japan, these stones are hard, fast-cutting, and extremely slow to dish. They are splash-and-go: no soaking required, just add water and start sharpening. Each stone is color-coded by grit and comes in a lightweight slotted storage case that doubles as a stone holder during use. CKTG is a registered Shapton distributor importing directly from Japan and provides warranty support. The combination of cutting speed, durability, and predictable grit-to-grit behavior makes the Shapton Pro the default recommendation for cooks who want a no-fuss, high-performance sharpening stone that will last for years.
The 2,000-grit Pro is a medium-fine transitional stone used to refine the edge after a 1K session and prepare it for a finishing stone. At 2000 grit it removes the 1K scratch pattern efficiently and leaves an edge that is sharp enough for many kitchen tasks as a stopping point, or clean enough to jump directly to a 5K or 8K without an intermediate stone. The hard Shapton bond cuts quickly at this grit and provides feedback that is noticeably different from softer stones - more precise and direct. For sharpeners who run a simple two-stone progression (coarse and finisher) the 2K can substitute for the 1K when the knife is already in reasonable condition and needs only refinement rather than edge repair. Comes in the color-coded Green case. 8.25" x 2.75".
What Customers Are Saying: Three reviewers confirm solid performance as a mid-grit transition stone. Described as a well-positioned stone in the Shapton Pro progression that cuts cleanly and moves the edge toward finishing efficiently.
Care Instructions: Splash-and-go - no soaking required. Add water during use as needed. Flatten with a diamond plate when the stone develops a dish. The hard ceramic bond means these dish slowly but they should still be checked regularly. Store in the included case with the vented lid to allow drying.

great splash and go stonePosted By: Matt Jacobs

Very happy with this stone. I was using an 800 grit and then skipping to 5k. This 2K has replaced them both as my one main stone for kitchen knives. It gives a very nice toothy edge in the kitchen and I love having splash and go stones.
