Daovua Leaf Spring Big Daddy Slicer 355mm. Leaf Spring steel is recycled discarded automotive parts and are a very good source of knife steel as they are usually made from 5160 carbon steel. Many highly regarded custom knife makers use this steel source to great effect for their highly desirable custom creations.

A young barefoot bladesmith we discovered working in Vietnam uses this interesting source to make some very funky and fun blades for us. And our customers are full of praise for many of their attributes. But let’s get this out of the way—one of these attributes is not fit and finish! They are rough and ready with an emphasis on rough. These are basic blades that will make a great project knife for budding sharpeners or new chefs looking for something to play with. These knives are sharp and they will cut! Some of them might need a touch on your favorite stone, but a few passes and you will have a razor of a knife on your hands.

The profile and size of this slicing knife is monster at carving just about anything. The handle is made of some gorgeous hardwoods burl that is worth the price of the knife by itself.

These knives are a little rough around the edges but they work great and are an excellent value. Made in the Vietnam. Plus you get to tell a great story about it and its makers!

5  Meat prep is so much easier, February 15, 2021

Went from a fujiwara 270mm suki to this beast. Fit and finish is really good honestly, splitting hairs here but at the very most there's <1mm of waviness on the edge and the handle has very slight ridges.

I throw on a chainmail glove and pull out this knife monthly to break down/dice 14lb beef brisket and 8lb pork loin among other things and its just a joy to use even with my. With a 10$ ceramic hone in slaying meal prep I do wish I used the knife sharpening service with my order to bring out it's potential will probably send it out there soon.

5  Daovua Leaf Spring Big Daddy Slicer , August 9, 2020

This blade is advertised. It is a long blade that takes on the appeal and feel of a sakimura and maguro tuna knife. Only flaw was that I noticed a crack in the handle but, nonetheless this is a work of art. Be it if you are carving steaks, sashimi fish, butchering or protecting yourself from any intruders this knife will definitely do the job. Love it, recommend!

Got one of these for my kid since he lost his machete. It needed an edge which I just used my ceramic rod to tune up, and sent it off. He had a blast at dinner carving up the Prime Rib! For the price its a collectors item. Handle was nice too!

This is a great knife for anyone who doesn´t mind sharpening a bit and if anyone brakes in to your house it can double as a sword.
