The Sharpal 208H is a green stropping and buffing compound in a waxy bar form, made from a fine blend of chromium oxide and aluminum oxide with an abrasive particle size in the 1 to 2 micron range, roughly equivalent to a 10,000 to 14,000 grit finish. That is well beyond what any
sharpening stone in a typical progression reaches, which is the point of a compound like this: it does not set an edge, it polishes one that is already sharp into a mirror finish.
This compound works on leather, wood, or synthetic strop surfaces, and also on muslin or spiral sewn buffing wheels for metal polishing beyond edge work, including stainless steel, aluminum, brass, cast iron, and copper. The 208H ships as two 2 oz (57 g) bars, each sized at 3 in x 0.8 in x 0.8 in for easy handling, for 4 oz total.
Use and Care Instructions: Rub the bar directly onto the strop or buffing wheel surface to deposit a thin, even layer of compound; heat from friction during use helps it adhere. Reapply as the compound wears thin with repeated use. Store the bars away from heat, since the wax base will soften in high temperatures.
