Okada san was born in 1949 and is the 3rd generation blacksmith. He is known mostly for gardening tools but he's been expanding his line to include kitchen knives and these small knives called kogatana which roughly means "little sword". These are handy little knives for all kinds of tasks. It's a unique piece of steel and really fun to use. Many of these types of knives were traditionally used to cut paper but they have lots of other uses. We use one at our office for cutting open boxes.
