Harukaze means "windy spring" in Japanese. These Harukaze knives have been made exclusively for CKTG by a medium-sized factory in Tosa, Japan. This is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a high-quality knife at a reasonable price. It starts with a core steel (G3) with an HRC of 62, then a stainless steel cladding with a nashiji (pear skin) finish is added to protect and beautify the blade. It is then finished off with a lovely oval magnolia wood handle with a pakka wood ferrule. As a bonus, it has a nice kanji engraving on both sides of the blade.

The knife is excellent. Especially for the price. Looks like a previous review had an issue with chipping but if you’re used to using thin, high Rockwell knives, it shouldn’t be an issue. Wicked edge retention. Gorgeous handle and ferrule combination. A great product.

The steel is surprisingly nice. Holds an edge for a long time and is very easy to sharpen for stainless steel. Came extremely sharp with the sharpening service though. Used it for about 9 months now and keeps an edge well.

It would be a 5 star knife if it lasted more than a couple weeks. I use it to cut things at work such as green onions, onions, cucumbers, nothing tough but it recently chipped on me. If used for light use like in a home kitchen then it may last longer. I will invest in a better knife that can handle moderate use.
