The CKTG 80 Grit Diamond Flattening Plate is a fast, no-nonsense tool designed to make short work of stone flattening and heavy metal removal. With an aggressive 80-grit diamond surface, this plate excels at truing low-grit sharpening stones, resetting uneven bevels, and correcting problem areas quickly and efficiently. It’s an ideal choice for users who want speed and effectiveness without paying premium diamond-plate prices.
This plate cuts extremely fast and stays flat, making it especially useful for coarse stones that need to remain coarse after flattening. Users consistently praise its ability to flatten stones cleanly without glazing them over, while also doubling as a reliable surface for checking edge profiles or performing heavy stock removal on tools and knives. It’s a big time-saver, a solid shop workhorse, and one of the best performance-per-dollar diamond plates we offer.
Care Instructions: Rinse the plate with water after use to remove swarf and debris, then dry thoroughly before storage. Do not store wet or submerged. Use light to moderate pressure and allow the diamonds to do the work. For stone flattening, use a cross-hatch pattern to ensure even contact and consistent results.
Grit: 80 (extra coarse) Use: Stone flattening and heavy metal removal Best for: Low-grit stones, bevel correction, profiling Cutting speed: Extremely fast and aggressive Value: Excellent performance at a budget-friendly price

This thing crashes through metal , very aggressive for fast honing on bevels with humps, slants and too steep or low of an angle. Much better at this than my Atoma plates for quick removal of steel. With a good honing guide I can produce my desired bevel angle on planes and chisels in short order. Saved valuable time and allowed me to correct and reset many tools to the correct, proper angle. Then on to a course wet stone to remove the scratches. So glad I got this plate.

Preserves coarseness of coarse stonesPosted By: Matt Freeman

I had a very specific need, and this stone does the job perfectly. I have a number of coarse stones to get that bevel set efficiently and the 140 from here lapped them a bit too smooth and it took a number of passes to get them cutting as intended. Tried this guy one time and oh yeah, the coarse stone stayed coarse, it just got flat. If you want to tune the stone up with a finer diamond plate after this guy, no problem, but grinding in circles will tame this one down a bit, and I suppose it'll break in over time as well. For the moment I'm thrilled. Just what I wanted. Thanks, Mark for these high-quality budget diamond plates. Big time- and money-saver.

Bought the shapton glass 120 grit stone and needed a diamond plate to flatten it. This plate worked to perfection, quick, clean and without chewing up alot of the stone.
Thanks to CKTG for their fast delivery as usual!

This diamond plate is lightning fast! I did have to go back over my stones with my old well worn 600 grit diamond plate after using it but that took no time at all to do. I was able to flatten 5 of my stones in 15 to 20 minutes and yes that includes the time I spend going back over them with my old 600 grit plate. In the past, I was doing good to get 1 of my stones done in that amount of time. If you want to spend more time honing and less time maintaining your stones, get this diamond plate.

Seriously, this thing is amazing! I bought this because I had put a garage sale plane blade to the grinding wheel to rough out some eighth inch chips and while coarse emery cloth was fine for cleaning up blades that were off a bit they were taking FOREVER to establish the bevel. Within minutes on the 80 I had done more than the hours I had put in with 4 sheets of emery cloth before I ordered this plate. You need to reset some tool steel bevels? Here's your guy! Flatten stones? Please, it's done. 10/10 would recommend AND buy again.
