The Arashiyama 1000 Grit Water Stone is one of our favorite mid grit stones for its ease of use, affordability, and versatility across a wide range of knife steels. It is a fast cutting stone with excellent tactile feedback, making it easy to control pressure and angle while sharpening. This stone works equally well for routine edge maintenance or for refining an edge after coarse stone work.
The finish left by the Arashiyama 1000 is crisp and toothy, making it a great choice as a final stone for many kitchen knives. It bites well into food and provides excellent performance for daily cooking tasks. This balance of speed, feedback, and edge quality makes it a dependable and forgiving stone for both beginners and experienced sharpeners.
Care Instructions: Soak briefly before use. Keep the surface wet during sharpening. Do not permasoak. Allow the stone to dry fully between sessions.

Nice stone. Posted By: Larry Johnson

Nice stone. It was flat out of the box. I found it harder than both my Chosera and Cerax stones of the same grit. Its a big stone, so it should last a long time. Great feedback, as it started squeaking when my angle was too steep. Two passes got Shirogami #2 stupid sharp.
My Chopper King loves it and it cut everything I needed with ease.
My only beef is the dark color makes it hard to see the metal removal. But all my permanent soakers are different colors now, which makes for easy identification.

Possibly the best 1000 grit stone availablePosted By: Grant

This large stone is perfect for my long knives. Great price and sharpens quickly. I use a 5000 grit Chosera as a finishing stone but will sometimes stop at 1000 which works better when cutting dense fatty charcuterie.
