A leather strop is the final step in a sharpening session and one of the most important maintenance tools a serious knife user can own. Regular stropping between sharpenings removes the microscopic wire edge that forms with use, keeps the edge aligned, and extends the time between full sharpening sessions significantly. This CKTG bovine leather strop measures 3 inches x 8 inches in bark-tanned leather with a smooth grain side suited for final edge finishing. The magnetic backing attaches securely to a CKTG strop base or strop plate for a stable, flat stropping surface.

Use the smooth grain side for plain stropping or load it with diamond spray or CBN spray for a more aggressive finishing compound. Edge-trailing strokes only at your sharpening angle - never push the edge into the leather. The bark-tanned bovine leather is dense and durable, holding compound well and providing good feedback through the stroke. Works on kitchen knives, razors, pocket knives, chisels, and other sharpened tools. Pairs naturally with the CKTG denim strop for a two-stage sequence.

Care Instructions: Load with stropping compound as needed. Wipe excess compound periodically to prevent buildup. Store flat. The leather will darken and develop a patina with use - this is normal and does not affect performance.

  Nice lower-cost strop

Not a bad strop for the money. Several of the stops had blemishes in the leather, but were sold as top quality and not seconds. Doesn't really affect performance, but high spots and ridges do load up with swarf really quickly. For what it's worth, I really miss the thin horse hide strops you used to sell and I ain't paying $40 for a tiny piece of kangaroo leather...

I really like the metal base really solid, great idea for both leather and balsa strops with the magnetic back.
