New for 2020. We upgraded the handle on these for a much better look and feel with no step between the ferrule and the body of the handle. These have a nice, urushi finish on them that is water resistant and very Japanese. Bunka style blades have a very unique look to them. Featuring the classic reverse tanto tip and a tall blade height, they have the appearance of an ancient weapon. And in fact they are a great cutting weapon in any kitchen, pro or amateur. The blade style is gaining in popularity in the West, where its shorter length and sharp tip make for a wonderful jack of all trades kitchen utensils. These knives can be used as a substitute for a gyuto or santoku, or even a longer petty. Since banno bunkas have quite flat profiles they are particularly adept at push cutting and chopping rather than rock chopping.
