Sakai W#2 Mukimono 180mm. This Mukimono knife is basically a single edged
bunka knife and has a core steel of White #2 with soft iron cladding. The knife is considered a fully reactive knife, meaning wiping the blade with a dish towel after washing is recommended to prevent rusting.
At the center of it all is a highly regarded White #2 carbon steel that is quite often used in high-end Japanese cutlery. White #2 is known for its ability to take rather acute and refined edges. The hardness is in the area of 60 HRC. The iron cladding forms a “hairline” where the cladding and core steel come together.
The handle is a traditional "D" shape and is made from ho wood and carries a buffalo horn ferrule. The saya is included with this knife.
