This 3-inch x 8-inch strop is cut from buffalo hide and fitted with a magnetic backing that attaches directly to the CKTG 3x8 strop base or strop plate. The format and dimensions match the rest of the CKTG 3x8 strop system - swap it in and out alongside denim, balsa, or kangaroo strops on the same base.
Use edge-trailing strokes at your sharpening angle. CKTG recommends loading buffalo leather with diamond paste or diamond spray rather than running it plain - the texture of the leather responds particularly well to compound, and the results are noticeably better than unloaded stropping. CBN spray works equally well. A few strokes per side after loading removes the fine wire edge and brings the apex into alignment.
