This is the grey version of the glass 6K. The new shapton high carbon (or high polish) 6K stone is very similar to the regular stone. It has a light grey color and is a little finer and better polisher than the standard one. But to be perfectly honest we can't tell the difference. The best steels in the market can take extremely refined edges. While a 6K edge is not the limit of these steel’s potential keenness, it is probably the most common stopping point for kitchen cutlery. This 6K Shapton Glass stone is a very hard stone which promotes precision in sharpening and consequently better defined edges. The stone dishes very slowly, giving a reliably true sharpening surface and long stone life. Using the stone is a pleasure thanks to splash-and-go convenience. The namesake of the line is the glass backing plate the stone is mounted to. Including the glass plate the stone measures 210mm x 70mm x 10mm, the stone without the glass plate measures 5mm in thickness.

Used this stone to put the final polish after a 3k stone. Oh my. After a light working, used my phone book page test. Knife sliced so cleanly that the page didn't even move. Not bad for a newbie.
