This 4 piece set of Shapton Glass stones has the breadth of grits necessary to take the best of knives from maddeningly dull to hair whittling sharp quickly and conveniently. Often kitchen knives take a beating from the grueling workload of putting meal after meal on the table. These knives often need more rehabilitation than a 1k stone can easily handle. Starting with a 500 grit stone, this set gives the coarse grit horsepower necessary to remove chips in the edge or establish new bevels on hard worn knives. The set progresses through the 1k and 4k stones and ends on the 8k stone capable of producing edges literally appropriate for a razor. All this is done with the aid of Shapton Glass’ renowned fast cutting, slow wearing stones and without the headache of presoaking the stones. I purchased these to make a complete set along with the Shapton 16K that I had already owned. These stones are among the best quality I have seen, and I love the convenience and ease of "splash and go". I use these to hone a straight razor and my Shun kitchen knives. You can't go wrong with them.

I would definitely recommend these shapton stones to anyone looking for a set of wet stones. These stones are splash and go so they require no soaking. Using all four stones together 500 through 8000 I am able to get my knives sharper than they were out of the box. Order them on Sunday received them on Wednesday!

This set of stones is perfect for any sharpening need. I own a small knife sharpening business and I get everything from pocket knives to swords. Using these stones cut my work time in half. Worth every penny and great set for beginners. As always speedy shipping and great customer service.
