The Shapton Pro 320 is the foundation stone in the Kuromaku series - a coarse ceramic whetstone built for the heavy work that no finer stone can do efficiently. Repairing a chipped edge, resetting a bevel, reprofiling an angle, or rescuing a neglected knife all demand a stone that removes steel fast without loading up or dishing out. The Shapton Pro 320 does exactly that. Hard ceramic bond, no soaking required, and a blue color-coded case that doubles as a stone holder during use. We are a registered Shapton distributor importing directly from Japan with full warranty support.
At 320 grit this is a dedicated repair and geometry stone, not a maintenance stone. Most kitchen knife owners will not reach for it often, but when a rolled tip, chipped edge, or severely degraded bevel needs addressing, nothing in the Shapton Pro lineup is faster. The scratch pattern it leaves is coarser than the 1000 grit stone and needs to be refined through the progression, but the efficiency it brings to bevel work more than justifies keeping it on hand. Pairs naturally with the Shapton Pro 1000 and 2000 for a complete edge-setting and refinement progression. The included case prevents contact with other stones during storage and keeps grit contamination out.
Care Instructions: No soaking required - splash with water and use immediately. Rinse thoroughly after each session to remove metal swarf. Allow to dry completely before storing in the case. Flatten periodically with a diamond plate to maintain a true surface. Keep away from finer grit stones during storage to prevent cross-contamination.

Good stone to have around. Its great cause you dont get the build up of paste that gets sticky and then to slick to cut. The deep color is sort of trippy to see whn you are sharpening, unlike white glass shaptons.

As the description says, yes, this is a fast cutting stone. But sadly the durable part of the description is not what I experienced. It dishes quickly, so if you are good about keeping your stones flat you will quickly end up with a lot of this stone in the bottom of your sharpening basin. Coupled with the fact this stone is small and thin to begin with, and I had to replace it quicker than any other stone to date. If you don't do a lot of sharpening and just want a fast cutting stone for occasionally re-setting a bevel of dealing with the infrequent little edge chip, this would work well. But if you do a lot of sharpening (e.g. professional work) I would not recommend this stone - it just wears out too quickly.

Newbie at sharpening, but this stone took out some significant chips out of a couple Miyabi Kaizen knives. Took a number of strokes and requires rinsing / rewetting, but seems to do a great job.

First time buying and using sharpening stones of this caliber. Very impressed with the results. Very Impressed with cktg. Studied up on what to buy to get started sharpening here on the forums. With the expert advice I found here and the quality products I will do my best to make all of my knife and stone purchases from this website. Top Notch
