Our friends from Vietnam have been asking me to try their knives made with pipeline steel and some improved ergonomic handles they like so here this is the first in a new line of knives from them. This steel is a little harder than their leaf spring steel knives and should hold an edge a little better. This is a lot of knife for the money.

Awesome knife. Well balanced and comfortable to use. Very rustic feeling. Came with a slight crack in the handle, however small and fixable.

5  Great deal on a fun knife., May 1, 2020

I bought this for taking to work (when I'm allowed to go back to work). It is VERY reactive. However, this this also a great knife for experimentation with forcing a patina and learning sharpening.

It came reasonably sharp, but was fun to sharpen - and practice sharpening on. It reacts QUICKLY to standing water. I found that cleaning with Barkeeper's Friend removes most of the korouchi finish - but still leaves a lot of character.

I went ahead and did a forced patina with mustard/apple cider vinegar mix (left it on for about 16 hours or so) and it came away MUCH less reactive, and with cool grey/gold patina - depending on the light.

It works fine for what it's designed for, but for me, this has become the ULTIMATE cheese knife. I'm 100% serious. This knife cuts through hard cheeses better than anything else I've ever used. It's worth it for this task alone.

Also, the handles are BEAUTIFUL and smooth. Great figuring in the wood, and have a combination shape of half-hexagon on top (palm side), and oval on the bottom (finger side). Super comfortable.

I'm definitely buying another one for work, as the one I have now is staying at home for cheese duty.

This is an extremely cool, very unique knife. Very affordable. Easy to sharpen. Light weight, but hefty and a great knife to grab for potatoes and squash when you don't want to harm your laser. So much character. Handle is beautiful.
