This wooden saya (鞘), the Japanese term for a blade scabbard, is designed to fit specific knives we carry and is intended to provide safe, secure protection for the blade during storage or transport. Fit is critical with wooden sayas, and even small differences in blade height, thickness, or profile can affect how the knife seats inside the scabbard. For that reason, compatibility is tightly controlled.
For the best results, we strongly recommend purchasing the knife and saya together so we can use your actual knife as a template and drill the pin hole for proper alignment. If you are purchasing this saya separately, please tell us exactly which knife it is for in the Comments section of your shopping cart. We only sell sayas for knives we carry, as proper fit cannot be reliably guaranteed for knives we have not handled. A black, tapered saya pin is included.

Bought this for my Masutani nakiri. It fits fine, but it has some REALLY rough edges. A bit of sandpaper and some varnish or something to seal up the wood and it'll be great!! Also wish there was a piece of string to hold the pin in place. I lost it earlier at work (luckily I found it under the grill)

The quality of this product is superb... the fit isn't but it's expected when this is considered and universal piece, meant to fit a variety of knives.
My Nakiri slides in, the pin sticks hard and is difficult to remove, but that also means it wont fall out during travel and has so far proven to be an excellent option for keeping my nakiri safe from harm.
The fact that this is an after market item, built with exceptional quality and does hold up to chef and professional cooks abuse and travel... storage is superb.
It wobbles and isnt snug or even close to snug, but it hasn't scratched or dulled my edge, I'd say its quality and that I'm being picky!

I bought this to fit a tanaka nakiri that I purchased at the same time. Very nice product! Pin fit perfectly and unlike ones I've bought from other retailers it's tapered so it doesn't fall out.
