The length is a little short for bigger jobs but I use a beefy chef's knife for cutting bones and big objects anyway. The finish is rustic obviously and this will rust fast. My father in law cut some oranges and left it wet but I was able to save the day with some bar keepers friend. Lastly the spine tapers but not as much as I would like. It's extremely rough and thick near the handle and could have used a once over by the maker but I do appreciate owning a hand made item with some character and flaws. None of these are fatal flaws and I do enjoy the knife.
