5  Finally easy to cut tomatoes, June 30, 2019
Posted By: Get to da choppa - verified customer

Been big into cooking for years, but this has been one of my first investments into good knives. Sharp enough slicing tomatoes is effortless and makes that nice "clunk" you so desire. Some reviews mentioned how light the knife was, but from my side that has been nice as it feels more like a hand extension.

5  One of my favorite knives, March 22, 2019

I've enjoyed this knife for over a year; it is one of my top three go-to chef's knives. When I opened the box, I was somewhat dismayed by the length of the blade + hilt, but my dismay quickly turned to surprised happiness when I picked the knife up and realized that it is LIGHT! I very much admire this knife's esthetics, but make no mistake, it is a joy to use in the kitchen. A true bargain for the price.

Decent amount piece of steel for the price. The handle is well executed. The blade takes and holds a nice edge. The knife I received is not perfectly straight. There is a slight twist. As a result the edge and spine don't exactly line up. It isn't bad enough to negatively affect daily tasks, but it's noticeable if you look closely.

    5  Great starting knife!, December 26, 2018

Gives you a rare chance to train on using and caring for real high carbon Japanese knives without breaking the bank. Very, but not crazy, sharp out of the box.

The knife has a lot of character! Takes a nice edge on my stones and is easy to maintain. Can't beat it for the price on a nice entry level knife.

The handle is smooth and well crafted. Knife is sharp OTB but I sharpened on whetstones anyway and White #2 is a very satisfying and an easy sharpen. The length is a little short for bigger jobs but I use a beefy chef's knife for cutting bones and big objects anyway. The finish is rustic obviously and this will rust fast. My father in law cut some oranges and left it wet but I was able to save the day with some bar keepers friend. Lastly the spine tapers but not as much as I would like. It's extremely rough and thick near the handle and could have used a once over by the maker but I do appreciate owning a hand made item with some character and flaws. None of these are fatal flaws and I do enjoy the knife.
