Masakage Mizu Collection is handmade by Anryu san. These knives have been named Mizu (water in Japanese) as the blue/black kurochi finish gives the impression of cold, deep water. Paired with an oval cherry wood handle these knives represent excellent bang for the buck. Aogami #2 carbon steel is an excellent steel when forged properly. Rockwell Hardness on these particular knives is 62:64 and they come with a very attractive oval handle of Japanese Cherry wood.
This knive is my first introduction to japanese cutlery. I am so impressed with the weight and balance, not to mention how sharp and thin the blade is. It makes prepping fun. A big thanks to the staff at CKTG!
was looking for something with a bit more height than the average nakiri and this is definitely it! i believe all their nakiri’s are around 2.25 inches at the heel. super thin blade for that height, great for scooping, never fans out vegetables when chopping. great all around knife. the only thing i’d change is i wish the handle was sanded down so it was a bit smaller and flush with the collar.

Great knife for the price. Was sharp out of the box and has a nice heft and balance. Fit and finish are superb. I did take this knife to an 8000 stone to touch up the edge but it really wasnít necessary. The lacquer on the kurochi finish should help the knife keep the deep water look for a long while. Iím very happy with the purchase and CKTG were very helpful and supportive during my decision process.
