I use this to lap my courser stones (1000 grit and below). It is the only stone fixer I have used that does not get damaged flattening 220grit stones. Much cheaper and more versatile than the Shapton Diamond Lapping Plate (which would be ruined lapping a 220grit stone) although not as perfectly flat I cannot tell the difference.

love it for smoothing stones,in addition,i took a five year old mac bread knife, grinded the serrations down with this, then sharpened with my choseras and gave a young cook a slicing knife so he didn’t mess up my proteins. two birds, one stone,no pun intended.

I purchased this for flattening stones after watching the videos on the website. It was used to flatten Shapton 1K and 6K stones. It worked perfectly following Mark’s instructions.

Fantastic. I bought this item to repair a knife with a broken tip. With the help of the tutorial video,I went to work and I was very surprised how fast I came to result. I followed advices and a new knife was born. I also had a damaged water stone, and again, problem solved in minutes. Perfect to flatten stones. Highly recommended product.

Excellent abrasive. It quickly and evenly removes metal from damaged or poorly ground knives. It also works great for flattening stones.

Heavy, flat and Solid is the tree words I want to use when we are taliing about this DMT. great and quick results from first start of use, handle anything you put on to it. I use it only for flattening my stones, and it works really well for that. One thing though that might be nice to mention in a review like this,is that yes this DMT is very rough 120 grit so to say. But After some use the Dimonds will go down abit and it will become much smother, witch also has nothing to do with the effectivness,on the contuary, its now when its worked down a bit when you really see its fully potential. If you are as me,using it for flattening, then have this in your mind,it will leav scratches or marks, whatever you call it. but as the DMT itself worns out that will change, these marks even on higher grit stone as up to 8000 and 10000 dose not affect the actually stones preformance, but If you dont like this pattern, then I advice you to go with a finer grit DMT,like maybe the corse or just first step of fine,if you are worried about your high grit japanese stones. Though these finer DMT will not cut as fast as XXC but they will do a smoother finaly surfes. But one thing for sure is that,if yout looking for a product to flatten your stones than these DMTs are really the way to go,fair price for what it is you are buying and they last for a lifetime and you just cant go wrong with them,so Good luck with choice of the right one and start flattening.

Mark Thanks again for quick respons on forum questions !.
