HandAmerican Borosilicate honing rod. These are
put through a heat process and then hand cut to create the micro grooving. They're hard to make and people who have them are very pleased. Comes with an upgraded birch wood handle that has a notch on it to keep the rod from rolling off your counter. Also includes a leather sheath. These rods will only work on well sharpened/honed blades and that their purpose is to extend the period between sharpening and thus the life of the blade.
This is the best "steel" you can get for your knives. Will NOT sharpen your edges, but will realign them without destroying them -- which is all a "steel" is supposed to do! Perfectly designed, beautifully executed,a true pleasure to own and use.

After using many different steels and ceramic hones,I have to say this HA Glass one is by far the best I’ve ever used. It doesn’t seem to have much effect on softer German knives but with Japanese blades in the 60 Rockwell C range and harder it’s simply amazing! Two or three light strokes per side will bring you back to hair popping sharp again. I’m so glad you’re carrying this hone- if I ever break or lose mine I’ll order a replacement the same day. Again, this is about the best hone you’ll ever find. If I could I’d give it six stars!

Really makes a difference, especially on the harder steels used today,I think Rob from Sioux Falls summed it up nicely. If you are "in" to knives, this is a must have.

i was actually dissapointed in this product. It does nothing for my blades in fact maybe makes them duller. Not worth the m,oney i spent on it in my opinion, ill stick to my diamond steel!

Just fabulous for keeping both my Japanese and Western knives in great shape between sharpening. Between this rod and the Idahone I had I can go 3 months or more without sharpening my home knives.

Great for Japanese knives. Keeps my Hattori HD 210mm razor sharp. So much that I can comfortably shave with it anytime... Thanks Mark as always great customer service!

This rod is used for realigning the edge not sharpening. I my experience it is most effective on higher RC blades. For example it works well on my Carter blades,Moritakas,CPM-M4 pocket knives etc. For maintenance I combine this rod with the horse leather strop and rarely need to return to the stone after months of normal house kitchen use. I find my Shuns and anything with softer blades work best with a simple smooth steel. Overall a great tool!
