Paired up for a starter kit and at a discount to the open stock price, we have the Shapton 1K and 4K Glass Stones. These are two of the most popular stones in this series. They are perfect for beginners and what most seasoned sharpeners consider must-haves in their line-up. The 1K stone is a great place to start when sharpening because of the toothy edge it will leave. The 4K is the perfect progression after the 1K for the refining of the edge it will achieve. These are splash and go stones so no waiting while they soak making them exceptional for students and professionals alike. These stones measure 8.25” x 2.75” each.
Excellent value for these 1000 & 4000 grit glass stones.
Ordered these stones on Friday afternoon and they were here Saturday by noon. Less than 24 hours. These are a great pair of stones. I use them to sharpen my woodworking tools. Throwing my diamond stones out.

I love these Japanese water stones. Very easy to sharpen a blade with them. They dry fast enough and clean up easy also.
I’m new to sharpening, but I’ve found these stones to be very approachable and not intimidating. The splash and go surface increases their ease of use,and I’ve felt very comfortable working with them. I’m currently practicing on my beater knives, but I don’t think it will be long until I have the confidence to take my work knives to these stones. Mark was very helpful in recommending Shapton Glass Stones as a great introductory stone and the service was tremendous as usual.
I’m happy with my purchase. I tend to knit pick. no hold up or fees from customs. Great first experience.
Great Value,Does what I need it to. Pretty lookin OOTB
Puchased this as a starter set and immediately purchased a 320 grit stone,a extra extra course diamond flatting stone,a 8000 grit stone and the strop kit. Great stones that perform very well. They have been easy to use and maintain and the 1000/4000 set puts a very nice edge on my knives. You may decide not to go to a higher grit stone, but you will surly want a 320 or 500 stone (IMO). Also, these stones are very short,so you need something to hold them so your knuckles don’t hit the surface of the counter.
Great stones, great edges, flatten out quick. Can’t wait to get a 8k and up.
