Takeo Murata is a blacksmith from Kochi Japan. His knives have a good reputation for quality and he uses top shelf aogami blue paper steel for his knives (blue #1 steel) with HRC of 61-63. These knives have a nice kurouchi finish with beautiful octagonal handles. These knives are sold under the brand name Buho.
Absolutely fantastic knife -- I’d been looking for a reasonably priced hand-made nakiri for some time, and this fit the bill perfectly. The octagonal handle is ideal for me,and the OOTB edge is sharp enough to push-cut paper. Great value for the money, and best of all, there’s no cheap plastic ferrule!
All I can say is wow. The knife cam screaming sharp ootb with great fit and finish especially for the price. Canít wait to put some hours on it. AMAZING knife. Canít beat it for the price.

Great value, nice tall profile with great steel. Handle is very comfortable in hand and the octagonal wa handle is tapered for ergonomics.
Wonderful knife, you can beat the price. Very sharp holds a great edge. The handle is my favorite part.

This is not one of my favorite knives. The handle feels cheap and the light weight of the knife makes me feel like iím going to break it every use. The edge gets razor sharp with a good sharping though. Out of the box this was not sharp enough for me so after 10 min on the stone its a lot better.
Wonderful knife, holds a razor edge nicely. Sharp out the box but a little work on a fine on a water stone pays off.
