Megumi, meaning “blessing,” is the second line of knives by Yu Kurosaki that we have introduced on our site. Kurosaki is a young blacksmith from Takefu who is producing some very high caliber kitchen knives. His work was first introduced to the Western market through Masakage where he produces one of their higher end lines in W#2 and the company’s ultra-high end line in Aogami Super. Working under his own label, he offers the Megumi line using a core of expertly treated VG-10 with stainless Damascus cladding and hammered finish. The grinds on his knives are excellent with a pronounced 50/50 convex geometry that gets very thin behind the edge.

The 210mm gyuto performs insanely well. It gets thinner at the tip than its bigger brother in 240mm, making it a tremendous performer through ingredients like onions. The great grind on the knife also allow it to plow through even the densest of produce without any wedging or sticking whatsoever. These are great stainless knives that have quickly become a popular choice on our site.
