Takeda is one of the few smiths that produce hand crafted traditional Japanese patterns with Western double-bevel profiles. This not only makes them accessible to left handed users, but also adds some versatility to the knife that would not be present in a single beveled iteration.
This Takeda AS Stainless Clad Deba wraps softer stainless steel around a wonderfully treated core of Aogami Super carbon steel. This construction marries the ease of maintenance associated with stainless construction with the edge quality of premium carbon steel. The stainless cladding sports a beautiful kurouchi finish which punctuates the unique aesthetic presented by Takeda’s knives. A 50/50 compound grind with very tall and steep edge bevels makes these knives tremendous performers. The Stained Maple Octagonal handle is a perfect match for the knife’s character and has the same high level of fit and finish as the blade itself.

This was the first Takeda I bought and it does not dissappoint. Its not just a show piece. it goes through bronzinos like theyre nothing. super easy to sharpen and stays razor sharp for a long time.
