Out of the box, this thing is rustically gorgeous. I had been using a shun classic prior to this, and the feel was just such an improvement. This knife is comfortable, sturdy, light for it's size and you can feel the quality and care put into it. It cuts like a dream and after a month of use in our high volume environment (cutting anything from brunnoise mirepoix to whole legs of venison) it has kept up performance wise and developed a nice patina. Both our sous chefs and our chef owner have made comments on how nice a blade it is. Highly recommend, and grateful for CKTG for giving people like me the opportunity to own blades like this.
