The Sabol brothers are Andy and Mike. They live in Slovakia and make simple but high-end kitchen cutlery together with many other knife types. The steels they currently use are Bohler-Uddeholm K390, M390, and Vanadis 4E. Over time, they will be adding more interesting steels and knife designs.

K390 is a Powdered Metallurgical steel that possesses extremely high wear resistance, excellent toughness, and very high compressive strengths. It is a sibling to M390 but is far better than that steel in wear resistance and edge holding. It produces an edge that can be best described as aggressive and if maintained correctly, one that will last months! M390 has more chromium and thus is tougher and has more corrosion resistance. K390 can be really hard to work but the Sabols have mastered the steel and are able to create great blades that maximize on the strengths of the alloy. They harden it to 63 HRC.

The blade is given a nice hairline finish that is easy to maintain. It works really well with the beautiful handle made from Jicarillo (a Honduran medium/fine grain hardwood) with a stainless steel spacer and jet black linen micarta ferrule.

We look forward to receiving more knives from these talented brothers.
