The Nano Hone NL-4 lapping plate is designed to flatten whetstones from 110μm to 10μm, which translates to a grit range of 120 to 1,000. It is a standard style plate but with an important difference: the plate features raised sections in a chevron pattern that have diamonds embedded in the face of each structure. The diamonds on this plate are of 130μm size.
It is the edges of each structure that are doing the real work as you use the plate to flatten and true your stone. This pattern results in a very efficient and heavy material removal. The structures are open at the ends to aid with swarf removal. There are grooves placed on the side of the plate for easy gripping.
These plates are used in the normal fashion. Start by drawing a pencil cross on your stone, and with even, light pressure, lap with short, smooth strokes until the marks are removed. Repeat the process 4-5 times and your stone will be dead flat and ready for use.
Do not use this lapping plate for sintered ceramics or diamond resin stones.1.257 lbs
