After a great deal of research and experimentation, I have found a material that has almost no effect on sharpening an edge - less than leather, felt, or balsa. For extremely fine compounds, you don't want what you put your compounds on to provide more abrasion than the compounds, so this is an IDEAL substrate for your finest compounds. MUCH less give than even the hardest of felts, this is a synthetic fiber producing a completely uniform surface that holds compound in place.

This 3" x 8" nano cloth is mounted on glass with a magnet backing to give an exceptionally flat surface with outstanding characteristics. Use this size in standard stoneholders. The cloth has less draw than kangaroo leather and is suitable for use with the finest of compounds. Not ideal for use with pastes, but rather sprays with deionized water such as the CBN and poly and mono diamond compounds from 1 micron down to 0.025 micron diamond. The cloth also doesn't fluff out from water. Provides an ultimate level of performance for knife and razor edges. Like leather, use edge trailing strokes only. Absolutely superb to use for edge touch-ups too!

I already had 2 strops with Kens .05 and .025 pdp emulsion and no matter what I did my edge while a bright mirror still had light whispy lines on it. I decided to get the nanocloth since it has been said to not have any other effect on the edge and whatever grit emulsion you put on it would not be contaminated with a coarser grit like on leather. Boy was that right. I re-stropped many of my knives and it cleared up those fine lines and made a true mirror finally .All his products are top notch and you get what you pay for. I will never use another brand. Ken Schwartz is a genius!

An excellent substrate for CBN or poly/diamond. Also excellent for straight razors.

If you are using any spray on compounds, especially those finer than half a micron, you really must use these. These are the absolute best for using ultra fine compound SPRAYS. The glass is float glass so its super flat, no give just a crazy clean edge.

Kens' Nanocloth strops are highly effective , especially when mounted on glass as it has literally no give , making it difficult to round off your edge , even as a new stropper. I use mine with Polycrystalline Diamond from 1micron through to 0.025micron. It really shines when used with abrasives below 1/10th or 0.1 of a micron. Unlike the Kangaroo which burnishes along with the compound , the Nanocloth provides no additional effects. So you get literally a pure compound effect. It presents the compound in an even and aggressive fashion , with only a couple sprays of compound producing immediate and noticeable results whether used with CBN , Monocrystalline or Polycrystalline diamond sprays. The feedback is unique to this substrate and hard to describe , the best I can say is that it feels like extremely fine sandpaper.
