We are big fans of the beautiful knives coming out of Mr. Harnerís workshop located in Littlestown, Pennsylvania. This talented blacksmith produces some of the most unique and well-styled blades we have seen. Not only do they look great, but they perform great as well.
This tall utility knife is made from a single piece of XHP steel. XHP is manufactured by the Carpenter Company. It is a powder metallurgy, air-hardening, high carbon, high chromium, corrosion-resistant alloy. Many people liken it to a corrosion resistant D2 tool steel or a high hardness 440C type stainless steel. It is easy to work at lower temperatures and is more stable than other similar alloys during heat treatment.
Mr. Harner employs a stock removal method in the making of this knife. Because it is constructed from a very tough and resilient steel, it makes it a perfect choice for a thin utility knife. Its high carbide distribution gives the blade a very fine and sharp cutting edge. It also allows Mr. Harner to put a very thin grind on the blade and behind the edge.
One area where Butch Harnerís knives stand out is in the aesthetic matching of blade and handle. This knife to his high standards by employing a full tang design with a stunning cocobolo handle.

Razor sharp right out of the box. Bulky, in a good way, handle that is perfectly balanced at the pinch point. Worth the money. Wish it had a matching saya to fully complete the package.
CKTG is at heart a small business so the service is personal. They are one of the rare companies that actually dispatch the order the same day as receiving it and provide tracking information. It is great to deal with an individual by name and itís evident that they take pride and love in what they do.
Had a problem with one of the products and they went out of their way to resolve. I would highly recommend dealing with this company. Itís nice to find a company who cares and they will get me as a return customer.
