Zanmai makes some really great knives that are the perfect choice for people looking for easy to maintain, good looking kitchen cutlery. The level of fit and finish of their knives is stellar. They use the best materials in the construction of both blades and handles, while incorporating the latest manufacturing techniques to ensure quality time after time. We are very impressed with the superb fit and finish of not only the blade but also the lovely hybrid pakka wood handle which is perfectly blended into the welded stainless steel bolster. The end cap is mirror polished and the scales are attached with three stainless rivets.

The knife is made from VG-10 stainless steel and is covered with a 33-layer damascus pattern stainless steel which further protects the blade and adds a wonderful aesthetic quality to the package. Mcusta hardens the inner core steel to an HRC rating of about 61 to ensure a tough edge but not a brittle one. These knives are laser cut from a pre-forged sheet of this steel combination. They are not stamped blades. The blades are then sharpened with Zanmai's Hamaguri V-Cut form. The profile of this blade is suited to all kinds of cutters, be they rock or push types. Although the blade is quite robust at the spine, it tapers to a lovely thin tip.

This is a great knife for pros and home chefs alike. Easy to maintain, great looks, and fit and finish of the highest order.
