The knife arrived quickly but had a minor scratch extending from the spine to the shinogi line near the tip. To be honest, the scratch did not bother me a bit, but I figured it was worth mentioning. The edge out of the box was dull but the knife sharpened up very quickly and easily on the stone.
While the knife performed well after sharpening, I felt the kurouchi finish made it more difficult to efficiently wipe the blade and that area has already developed a significant patina (Again, this does not bother me).
Bottom line: I would recommend this knife to someone who is interested in usubas and has money to burn. Those who use this style of knife seriously would likely use a blade of at least 180mm or more.
