The nakiri is a traditional Japanese vegetable cleaver, and has a trademark blunted tip, and very flat edge profile. Thin and lightweight for a nakiri, the Tanaka Sekiso rendition of this standard will blaze through onions, peppers, mushrooms, carrots, celery, and whatever else happens to be close at hand. The tall sides and blunt tip of the nakiri knife make it extremely easy and much safer to chop quickly with, and the Aogami #2 core steel will hold up to chopping very well with its HRC of 60. The ductile iron cladding has a beautiful damascus pattern that will patina over time and lend a very traditional look to the knife and its light ho wood handle with black buffalo horn ferrule.

Those who like to rock when they chop, fear not, the radius at the tip end of the edge will allow the knife to be tilted up and remain in contact with the board without digging in and risking a nasty tip break.

    I was very impressed overall. F/F good,handle avg.,blade is fantastic,super light, nice taper to spine, 2.8mm at base, 2mm at mid-point and 1.7mm at end. Super reactive, and gets extremely sharp, pure Pleasure to use. Cutting is unbelievable. Patina started with first use, no metal smell or taste, no discoloration on product. Worthy of rehandleing. I bought the last on and I am glad I did. I would recommend this knife with out reservation.

    I love how it handles and slices, even thought the handle is different. Must dry blade immediately or it will discolor (rust). My favorite knife for veggies.
