Posted By: Bryan K.I purchased this and have used it regularly in a professional kitchen setting. Although expensive, this knife is killer. Tanaka generously peels back the damascus layers to expose a good portion of the sg2/r2 core steel. The handle is smooth but not slippery (even with a glove). The only thing I didn't like too much was how narrow the handle is and also I wished the spine and choil was rounded out better. The knife is also slightly more difficult to sharpen than other steels. I highly recommend this knife and going to buy more!
