The 4” Shun Classic paring knife is a slightly larger version of the ever popular 3.5” parer. Shun knives are made in Seki City, Japan, by the Kershaw Kai Company. Seki is world famous as the sword center of Japan, with a 700 year tradition of cutlery manufacturing.

Shun Classic knives are made with a VG-10 super steel core encased with 32-layers of Damascus-like stainless steel (16-layers on each side). The Damascus steel supports and protects the core, which increases toughness, and is stain resistant. VG-10 "super steel" is composed of carbon, chromium, cobalt, manganese, molybdenum, silicon, and vanadium. Each Shun Classic knife features a blade angle of 16°.

This knife is a prepper’s dream. It slices through food with consummate ease while avoiding bruising or tearing the delicate produce. Ebony-black pakka wood handles are specifically designed for premium applications. Also featured are stainless steel bolsters and end caps. We recommend hand washing this fine utensil.     The geometry and length of this blade is only accentuated by is sharpness. If a similar shape was provided in a blue 2 it would be 5 stars and perfection.

    Oh baby. I was tempted to try shaving with it when I first held this blade. This little knife is weighted and shaped such that it feels deceptively natural to hold, especially since it is so ridiculously sharp! I think that it will be my new favorite knife.
