Sakai Takayuki knives are produced in Sakai, Osaka Prefecture. This area of Japan is famous for its long history of blade making, with more than 600 years of experience in the production of samurai swords and kitchen knives.

This fantastic 300mm Yanagi is constructed from White #2 steel with a soft iron cladding. It ticks all the right boxes as far as fit and finish are concerned. The beautiful kasumi finish on the upper cutting side of the blade is enhanced with a hand chiseled dragon emblem. It is simply beautiful.
The edge grind has a very small micro bevel which imparts the knife with a great out of the box performance. The blade is coupled to a octagonal handle with a rounded bottom. The handle is made from Yew wood with a water buffalo ferule and it is assembled with a traditional exposed machi.
This knife has wonderful fit and finish and is a superb example of a traditional yanagi. Very highly recommended.
