We are very pleased to introduce the Fanatic Thin Cleaver! This is actually a combination of our original Fanatic cleaver (nice and thin) with our Artifex handle made with super sturdy and durable G-10 composite with a classic 2 rivet design.

The steel used on this cleaver is a mono construction using AEB-L which is an excellent stainless steel that will provide a hair popping edge. It will re sharpen quickly and hold up to a long prep session with ease. The blade is quite thin for a cleaver of this size and it features a very nice distal taper.

The Richmond Artifex cleaver eschews the normal heavy Western bolster in favor of a bolster-less design. The extremely tough handle made of black linen micarta is virtually indestructible. It has a very rounded and streamlined shape that, coupled to the bolster-less blade, gives an almost Wa feel to the knife. A perfect combination for a cleaver.

Please note we grind a tiny bit of the back corner (heel) of the knife so it doesn't stick into the board when chopping. It's not chipped, it's done on purpose.

    I first bought the standard Fanatic cleaver,but then a week later the Fanatic Thin cleaver came out. The idea of a thinner,lighter cleaver appealed to me,and Mark very generously allowed me to trade in my unused Fanatic for a Fanatic Thin. The thin version has a significant distal taper,as the thickness specs imply. It’s a little lighter than the standard Fanatic,which is nice. The micarta handle is perfectly functional,though IMHO a pinch grip makes handle ergonomics a secondary consideration. The edge was sharp out of the box,but I touched it up and then stropped it with 0.5-micron chromium oxide. The AEB-L sharpens up like a dream,but you probably already knew that. The blade has minimal belly,which works well for me in a cleaver. I’m pleased with the knife; as always,CKTG’s service is top notch.
