We are working exclusively with a third generation blacksmith in Japan to produce these knives. The Richmond Hamon is made from Blue #1 steel with HRC 62 hardness. They are san mai (clad) blades with soft iron. These have a real hamon forged into the blades that is revealed during the polishing process. The knife was designed for heavy use with a long lasting edge. It's thick like a tall two short gyuto with good convexing for reduced sticking.
