A very well balanced knife when first picked up,and it is surprisingly light but solid. An excellent knife that is well formed,finely honed and has a fine sharp blade. The folded steel looks good along with the wood handle which is formed for easier handling. Well I wouldn’t recommend this knife for heavy duty kitchen prep (butchering,heavy duty prep,carvery,and so on I would say it can definitely do it,but such a fine knife should not be a general kitchen knife),I would highly recommend this for intricate fine prep work and line duty,and for general prep for day to day.
This knife is an excellent addition to my knife kit and receiving it as a gift was just as wonderful! Enjoy!

I bought this when it was on sale,and would recommend it to anyone looking for a Santoku knife. I love the d-handles,but the damascus look is not for everyone. And for those not interested in sharpening themselves,Shun offers a free lifetime sharpening service.
This would make a perfect gift for a female home cook because the shorter blade is easier to handle than an +8" chef knife
