Kikuichi TKC are very popular with knife enthusiasts and professionals. These knives are available only from CKTG in the United States. The TKC knives are made of excellent quality, semi stainless steel with great geometry and good fit and finish. Kikuichi's name as well as its distinctive chrysanthemum are stamped on the blade.

The blade is made from a proprietary semi stainless steel in a mono construction. It is hardened to 61-62 HRC. The blade height is a fairly short 43.5mm but coupled with the medium size pakka wood handle give the knife a lovely balance and nimble feel. But larger hands should possibly look elsewhere. It has a 50/50 symmetrical grind so right and left handed users are welcome!

The TKC Gyuto has a thin spine (2.2mm) which tappers to a very nicely shaped tip. The blade is also quite thin behind the edge, which comes fairly sharp out of the box. It is a very good looking knife in a pleasingly simple way, no bling here! The profile is fairly average for a gyuto with a nice sized flat spot giving way to a gentle curve to the tip. These are really well made and finished knives with a smooth touch and look. This is a great choice for all cutting styles and uses.

Here are the specifications:

  • Blade Length: 210mm or about 8.25 inches
  • Spine Thickness: 2.21mm or .087 inches
  • Weight: 168g or 5.9 Ounces

The Kikuichi Performance is one of my favorite knives. I use it for almost everything. The steel is amazing. Very sharp out of the box, I used my Richmond Strop kit to take it seemingly beyond a razors edge.
I have had no problems with rust or patina but I always wash and dry my knives after use. Perfect weight and balance, has a great feel. Not cheap but well worth the money. As an all around knife the Kikuichi Performance is very hard to beat.

A superb knife. Looks great, feels great. Phenomenal steel you don't have to baby. Can be taken to an incredibly razor sharp edge that will push cut a tomato or slice the edge of a paper towel with ease. Very easy to sharpen. Along with the Richmond Laser this is one of my favorite knives.

This knife can only be described as using a hot knife through butter!,, the balance is second to none. I am 5'2 and I prefer to have a knife I feel is an extension of my hand without feeling like I'm holding anything. Like a simple extension of my hand, therefore it makes handling the knife so much easier for me being a small person. As well I can feel where the blade is at all times therefore reducing the likelihood of cutting myself. Words that come to mind when describing this Beautiful knife are: light, perfect balance, smooth to the touch, smooth to operate, luxury, effortless, ease, perfection, modest beauty, Finest Craftsmanship one could get.
Yes if you could only choose one knife to own this would definitely be the one to own! I only wish this line also made a Petty to complete my set! This one and a petty would be all one would ever need in the kitchen!!!!!!! Yes I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! This knife deserves 100 STARS not just 5. This is a knife I will cherish forever! I am very happy to be the owner of such true perfect Japanese perfection! Worth every penny when you feel the quality in your hands. When vegetables see that knife they practically jump into the bowl/plate/pan themselves!!! Ha! Yes you would NOT regret this purchase! I know it's hard to spend that kind of money based on reviews and not being able to handle it before purchasing it. I get that. But I am so happy I did. So I hope my review will hep everyone considering this knife to feel at ease with this purchase knowing that what you will receive is far better in person than the pictures could possibly capture! Happy knife shopping!!! : )

Of all my knives I've bought from Mark, this is still my most used, favorite, and least expensive. F&f is superb and it is sooo easy to sharpen and it stays sharp.

This is by far the best knife I have ever owned mine out of the box had very little to no edge so I found a very professional sharpener aka (jmbullman) it is now so sharp that potatoes and tomatoes can be cut with just minimal pressure and they are virtually see through. I have owned and still own many knifes from various vendors Including tojiro, hattori, a custom haslinger which gets use only on special occasions due to price but this knife I will say comes close to or maybe surpassed the custom haslinger. I will continue to buy this product as for I have fell in love with the kikuichi and will continue to buy more. As for service well all you have to say is Richmond and that about personifies customer service. This knife along with the many custom Richmonds I own will serve me well and be passed down to my son. Peace and prosperity, jmbullman

This is one of those I wish I coulda' gave it a sixth star knives! Never, have I felt something that just glides through an onion. Like a 'ghost blade' sometimes. It may take the fun out of cutting.... nah.. never mind, forget I even said that. This makes cutting so much fun, you'll laugh when get a hold of an onion with it. The factory edge was among the sharpest I've ever felt to date, and that is saying something. This is performance out of the box"". Buy it, open it up, no sharpening needed, destroy prep. This is my personal favorite as of August 2011. MrKnifeFanatic.

This knife is awesome. It's lightweight, well balanced, had a great factory edge, and was packaged beautifully. I should have purchased a knife like this YEARS ago!

This is a fantastic knife. If you are after a workhorse with an extremlay sharp edge, thin blade and very easy maintenance: This is the knife for you. However, if you are a knifenut like me, it has a serous drawback: After havin such a great knife, it will be very hard to justify future purchases (if you know, what i mean)....;-)
