Made in the storied cutlery making city of Sanjo by the renowned blacksmith Hinoura, this 180mm funayuki is a characterful, masterfully crafted, and versatile option for any knife enthusiastís collection. Mr Hinouraís Tamashii line is kurouchi finished with stainless steel cladding over a reactive carbon core. As the core steel is reactive, care should be taken to keep the knife clean and dry between uses. The core steel is Shirogami #2, a highly regarded cutlery steel capable of taking extraordinarily keen edges. The blade is extremely thin making it adept at delicate and precise tasks. The octagonal handle is made of yew with a buffalo horn ferrule. Both the blade and handle are made with a high level of fit and finish. Like any handmade item some variation in dimensions will occur between knives.

  • Blade Length: 171mm
  • Height at Heel: 38.2mm
  • Thickness at spine/heel: 3mm
  • Weight: 3.8oz

    5  Great knife, April 14, 2016
    Posted By: thanh

i got the 90 mm and the 180 mm. customer service is outstanding as always.
better than i was hoping it to be.
spine at heel was thinker on mine around a 4 mm, so i wouldn't say it's extremely thin as described
out of the box sharpness was around a 4/10 for me. but a quick touch on my 3000 stone it was like a laser. fit and finish is really great. but my 90 mm did have scratches on the handle and ferrule right out the box, but it not bothersome.
it does patina a little quick for me. but i tend to forget to clean every time i use it.
i would recommend this knife if you got the money( i live in Canada).
i might get the 210 in the future if CKTG still carry them then.
