This 135mm petty is the smallest and nimblest offering in the Teruyasu Fujiwara Nashiji line and it delivers all the soulful performance of its bigger brethren in a more compact and affordable package. A singular characteristic of the Teruyasu Fujiwara Nashiji line is the extremely hard heat treatment of its Shirogami #1 core steel. At 64-65 HRC, Shirogami #1 can take highly acute bevel angles and high levels of refinement to the edge. While Shirogami #1 is reactive, the durable stainless cladding makes maintenance easy. The namesake nashiji finish is attractive, rustic in character, and masterfully crafted. The ho wood handle is octagonal in shape and has a buffalo horn ferrule. Each knife is a functional work of art and as such each is unique both in personality and in dimension. Posted specifications should be read as an approximation only.

I already own a Maboroshi No Meito gyoto so I'm familiar with this makers awesomeness... This is the younger cousin of that blade! What a little monster! This very hard white#1 miniature sword sings through food. This or the 150mm represents one of the best values on this site period, no ifs ands or buts.

I stared at it for about five minutes, always recommended! Then a forced patina was applied with banana and then some mustard and voila the wave of stainless meeting the business! Even a little happy color on the stainless.

Rust is not that big a deal with these after the patina is established just make sure to dry before storage.

If you've never experienced a true japanese forgers craft buy one of these use it then imagine bigger ones... you're now on your way to keeping Mark and Susan in business!!
