i just received my Chef Pak. once getting stuff in place i am completly satisfied with the shipping (little extra for 3 day, couldnt wait),and product. being part of the "backpack genaration" i loved it when i saw it. i get so tired of craming my knife roll into a backpack or carry one and sling the other. not anymore. with this have a perfect fit with much more space for all the little items needed. it seems like its made to withastand some rugged wear. padding makes for a comfortable carry.

I’ll start by saying that this pack is super comfortable to wear and built tough. Most of it is double stitched and made of a very heavy weight nylon. I did however expect it to be slightly larger than it is. The knife case is great but the knife slots barely fit my ten inch chef knife with a blade guard on it,and the small items pouch is a bit small. You can get a peeler and a thermometer in it,but anything else is tight. There could be more slots in the utensils pocket but it is a reasonable size. The laptop pocket could use some utensil slots as well, since I won’t be using it for a laptop, stuff in there just bounces around. Larger holes in the zipper handles would be nice too,to fit a full size pad lock. Those complaints aside, this is a well built product and the comfort of wearing it fully loaded makes it worth the price, additionally the knife case is a great idea. Four and a big half stars, but not quite five.

The Chef pak holds all my cooking equipment, lap top,and chef outfit for Chocolate making course I am taking and it is so comfortable to wear as it is heavily padded. The chef who is teaching the course was very impressed.I will use it for all the cooking courses I will be taking at the community college. I recommend this for all culinary students and teaching Chefs.

My son was thrilled to receive the ChefPak and could’t wait to put his knives, books and other items that he had into the bag. He said that it felt very comfortable with the extra padding. He loves the hard case for his knives and all of his knives fit very well even with the ridgid knife guards that he purchased to protect them. The Chef who designed this ChefPak ( his name escapes me ) really,in my mind, thought about his design well when he came up with this bag. My son says that he would recommend this bag to anyone who is interested in it.

I am very happy with my ChefPak. The backpack is well constructed with sturdy zippers, along with plenty of storage compartments for necessary tools. The knife case is easily removed and holds all the knives I use regularly. The ChefPak is a bit more expensive than most knife cases, but I think it is well worth it. The quality of the construction is far superior to most. I recommend this product.

Knives barely fit, even without the recommended knife guard. Knife entry area needs redesign,I had to rip the first few stitches out to be able to fit the knife in,plus the slots are a little slim.

Great in the kitchen. Knife case also great. Back pack makes you back a bit sweaty though.

This is exactly what my son,the chef needed. He is traveling alot now with his job and he can put his knife case in the backpack and still have room for other essentials.

This is the best birthday present I’ve gotten in years. The knife case holds even my biggest knives, and all my tools are organized in the front pocket. On a side note, the main pocket will keep a six pack cold for a few hours. Love this pack!

Really 3.5 Stars, the grading system doesn’t seem to allow half stars.

This is a fantastic bag! No more knife roll AND laptop satchel.

Roomy, well thought out for the most part, very comfortable to wear.

Like a kid excited about the first day off school, you will spend a couple hours packing, repacking and exploring this bag.

Only downsides I’ve found are two.

    1) The bag itself could use a waist or chest strap across the harness like a CamelBak (tm)to help distribute and help support weight, especially if you carry around a laptop that isn’t an Airbook. That accounts for .5 star drop

    2) The knife case is not as versatile as expected.

While I like the double stack design on one side to account for smaller knives, freeing up the other side for other tools,I was having difficulty getting my knifes in with my cardstock blade guards at all,so I tried getting one in without and CUT the plastic webbing before I even noticed it happening.

    Blade guards are required.

I’m only using cardstock guards right now and I had to fold them around the spine of my knives, cut them down and "force" them into the pockets.

When I upgrade to AS knives and add sayas I will have to either cut stitching between pockets (diminishing capacity) or figure out how to mount my old knife roll or a different one in the knife case pocket of the bag.

This knife case will NOT hold anything larger than a 10" western style knife or a 240mm Gyuto.

If you’ve got a 270mm or 300mm fish knife or slicer that you love, get a saya and carry it in the pocket next to the knife case.

All in all a very functional and attractive bag. I organize myself a little differently from most people so I have little or no problem working around the drawbacks I found.

    Note to the manufacturer:

I would HAPPILY pay another $100+ for this bag and knife case if they were made out of Kevlar (tm) like my laptop satchel.

Cats and Kitchens are abusive things. Between mine,my Kevlar (tm) laptop satchel has survived 5 years of both and is little worse for the wear. While the heavy weight double stitch nylon of the ChefPak (tm) is sturdy,I give this bag a life of 2 - 3 years.

Worth the money spent, but I’d spend significantly more for a redesigned knife case and Kevlar (tm).

I received this bag as a Christmas gift and today March 1st,it died.

I was so happy when I got the back and I absolutely love the knife portfolio and I thought the bag was comfortable to wear and fit everything nicely, but it didn’t hold up long. Im current studying aboard in Italy and it’s a 10 minute walk to my school from my apartment and it could not with stand it. The fabric began to de-thread and the zippers in the pocket of the knife kit fell off and it’s just falling apart and it’s only 2/3 months old. I’m disappointed with the quality if the bag

As a yacht chef I travel a lot. Within one month of receiving my chef pak the shoulder straps already started disconnecting from the backpack itself. To me the knife folder is not very practical either,my 11" gyuto doesn’t fit at all,not even in the backpack itself. The knife sleeves/pockets run 1/2 way up the length of the folder so the only way to put your knives in is blade first, which results in your blade protectors catching every time you pull a knife out. Its very appealing to the eye,but it is really not practical for my needs and the quality is well below par for a $100 bag.
