The 800 Chocera is the unsung hero of the EP lineup. It’s faster than the 1k while finishing nearly as well. It often will obviate the need for the 400 and allow you to skip to the 3k/5k range easily. 0.3
This is a great stone!

Way back when the Chocera stones were first released for the EP I decided to buy the whole set. At the time the 1k was out of stock,so I bought the 800 to hold me over til I could get the one I wanted. I only did a few knives though before the 1000 was back, and I bought two just to be safe. At that point I felt the 800 was probably redundant,so it’s basically languished unused in my stone tray for over a year. 0.3
But recently I decided to dig it out and see what I think of it in light of a year’s worth of experience with the rest of them. The results surprised me. The 800 is considerably faster than the 1k- I hadn’t remember/noticed that before. It does a great job of removing the scratches from an XC DMT or 150 Ohmura. And it finishes well enough that you can easily jump to a 5k or Aoto without difficulty. And at the low end it’s just enough coarser that in some cases I’m using it instead of dropping down to the 400 Chocera or 320 Shapton!
While I don’t plan to quit using the 1k any time soon (it’s still one of my single favorite stones) the 800 is really a terrific stone and will return to my rotation.
If you like the Choceras but have always felt the 800 was redundant, trying it may make you reconsider your opinion. If you haven’t tried a Chocera for your EP,this one would be a good place to start. It will be an eye opener! At the special "Try Me" price this is a no-brainer. Just buy it!

The 800 grit stone completes my Edge Pro lineup for the Chosera Stones. I’m very happy with it. And CKTG should be the business model for all internet based business. Never a problem. Ever.0.3

I can’t say enough good things about the Chosera stones. The Edge-Pro was very good out of the box,but with these stones it’s miraculous.0.3
The 800 is a pretty hungry stone and makes quick work of every knife I’ve thrown at it (including ones that the EP stock stones couldn’t scratch). I’ve only had to use the 400 for reprofiling or resurrecting neglected or abused knives.
